While on a short trip to South Africa, I had the opportunity to visit The Boskoppie Lion and Tiger Reserve. This is not a zoo, it’s a reserve! Space is extensive and many of the fully-grown cats are slowly introduced back in to the wild when possible.

Boskoppie rescues lions and tigers from other “parks” or zoos around the world, where they may be endangered or treated poorly, as well as breeding them to help sustain their existence. Here’s a few images I took during the visit…

The Boskoppie Lion and Tiger Reserve is a family-owned park, founded in 1986. Boskoppie was created with the simple intent to sustain the existence of lions in South Africa.
